The joys of open and online

As the time for the start of DLMOOC draws nearer (T minus 20 days!), registration is growing, and we now have over 1,300 participants.

As I look at the registered participants, I am reminded of one of the delights of open and online: we have a diverse group of interesting folks participating from around the world. Here are some quick stats.

  • We have participants in 66 countries.

  • Thirty-nine percent of our participants are from outside the United States.
  • The primary role in education cited by most participants is teacher (40%). We also have administrators (19%), instructional coaches (8%), university faculty (5%), students (K-12 and university), parents, and others.
  • Of those who work in K-12, we have participants who are rural, urban, and suburban; ones from private schools, charter schools, and public schools; and folks from elementary, middle, and high school level.

We know that all this diversity is going to lead to one interesting MOOC!

Please help spread the word about DLMOOC and join our G+ community to meet some of the other participants!
